Currently Crowley Shooting Instruction provides three shooting classes. Please select from the options below to see more detailed information about the classes and to register. The Combo Class provides a discount when you sign up for the Handgun 101 and LTC class at the same time.

Personal Protection in the Home is a lively course that provides information, tactics and skills required to effectively defend against home intrusion and invasion.  The course consists of two classroom hours covering topics such as positioning, firing from a sheltered position, preparation of the home, defensive tactics, and developing a “safe room” within the home.  The two hour range session that follows puts those concepts to work in a challenging and fun set of drills designed to sharpen skills and improve shooter confidence and comfort. This course is for intermediate and above shooters.

Fee: $35

Materials Needed:  One inch binder for provided materials, protective eyewear (prescription classes are sufficient), hearing protection, a handgun of choice (any caliber), at least one extra magazine (for autoloader) or speed loaders (for revolvers), and preferably 100 rounds of ammunition (though 50 should be sufficient).  It is suggested that clothing comfortable for the current weather be worn, including closed toe footwear and a hat that provides shade for the eyes. One might also want to bring kneepads.

Handgun 101 (NRA First Steps Program) is a course designed to teach basic handgun proficiency.  Whether a participant is totally new to handgun shooting, or knows the basics and wants to sharpen skills, or wants to improve skills in preparation for taking the CHL course, this course offers a full spectrum of knowledge and practices that will improve proficiency and build confidence.  This is a four hour course and includes many hands-on activities as well as ample time on the range.

Fee:  $35

The Handgun 101 (NRA First Steps Program) course stresses basic handgun proficiency and, as such, is a good choice for novice handgun shooters and those wanting to sharpen handgun shooting skills.  It is also a great course for those wanting to know more about how various types of handguns (semi-auto, revolver, single action and double action firearms) operate, perhaps in order to decide what type of gun is suitable for one’s needs.  This course is a four hour course, including time on the range.

     Materials needed:  One inch binder for provided materials, protective eyewear (prescription classes are sufficient), hearing protection, a handgun of choice (any caliber), and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.  It is suggested that clothing comfortable for the current weather be worn, including closed toe footwear and a hat that provides shade for the eyes.

License to Carry certification provides participants with the information and testing to become eligible to carry a concealed handgun in the State of Texas.  Considerable time is utilized in making certain the participants are prepared for both the required written exam as well as the shooting course of fire exam.  This course does NOT teach shooting skills or basic gun handling techniques.  A prerequisite for this course is that students have a confident mastery of their handgun and its features and functioning as well as safe gun handling skills.  If a participant is not confident in his/her proficiency with their firearm, it is strongly suggested that they consider taking the Handgun 101 course first.  (For more information concerning the state requirements of this course, go to the Texas DPS website at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/index.htm)

Fee:  $65

The License To Carry (commonly referred to as the LTC course) is the state approved certification course required before applying for a LTC permit in the state of Texas.  It covers a very broad curriculum of material including current firearms law concerning the use of deadly force, handgun use and safety, non-violent dispute resolution, and the proper storage and transport of firearms.  Assistance will be provided in taking the steps required to complete the application for LTC process.  There are two exams: one is a comprehensive written test and the other is a fifty-round course of live fire at three ranges.  NOTE:  this course does NOT provide extensive training in shooting technique or gun handling.  Those skills are pre-requisites for this course.  This is a 4-6 hour course NOT including the time on the range.

Materials needed: One inch binder for provided materials, protective eyewear (prescription classes are sufficient), hearing protection, a handgun of choice (MINIMUM .32 caliber), and at least 100 rounds of ammunition.  It is suggested that clothing comfortable for the current weather be worn, including closed toe footwear and a hat that provides shade for the eyes.
